Safe Circle (Ages 5–10)

Safe Circle is a preventative, child-friendly story designed to help children aged 5–10 understand personal boundaries, trusted adults, and how to recognise safe and unsafe feelings. In Safe Circle, children are introduced to calm, age-appropriate language around body safety, personal space, and speaking to a trusted adult if something feels confusing, uncomfortable, or wrong.

What children learn

  • How to recognise “safe” and “not safe” feelings
  • That their body belongs to them
  • How to use a simple rule for speaking to a trusted adult
  • That secrets about safety should never be kept
  • How to build confidence in saying no and asking for help

What adults can reinforce

  • Clear personal boundary language
  • A simple “stop and tell” habit
  • Trusted adult support
  • Calm, repeatable body-safety conversations

For parents

Safe Circle helps you introduce body safety in a way that feels calm and manageable. Families can also explore our For Parents page for additional guidance and recommended storybooks. The goal is not to scare children, but to build early awareness, confidence, and clear safety language at home.

For schools

Safe Circle supports early safeguarding conversations and aligns with age-appropriate primary school discussions around personal safety, trusted adults, and speaking up. Schools can explore our For Schools page for safeguarding-aligned information and implementation guidance.

Adult Companion Toolkit

Safe Circle is supported by an optional structured adult companion toolkit. Learn more on our Toolkits page. The toolkit provides reflection guidance, safeguarding-aware prompts, and practical reinforcement steps that may support consistent adult conversations at home or within school settings.
